The White Lotus Season 3: What to Know About the Cast, Location & the New Plot

Having won fifteen Emmy awards since its release in June 2021, The White Lotus is confirmed to be returning to our screens for a third season that's rumoured to be released in 2025. With its record-breaking global viewership, averaging 10.1 million viewers per episode since season two according to The Hollywood Reporter, the world stage remains fervently awaiting the new development of White Lotus's ever-expanding satirical universe.

Who is part of the new cast?

HBO has reportedly revealed the names of new arrivals to the cast featuring countless noteworthy figures. As confirmed by ENews, Carrie Coon from Avengers, Leslie Bibb from Iron Man, and Jason Isaacs from Harry Potter are amongst the new faces in Season 3 of The White Lotus. Additionally, Parker Posey, Dom Hetrakul, Michelle Monaghan, and Tayme Thapthimthong, Miloš Biković, Christian Friedel, Morgana O'Reilly, Lek Patravadi, and Shalini Peiris. are also set to join the cast. In January, Variety revealed another five new cast members: Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola.

A particularly familiar face is also planning to grace the show since her last appearance in season one. Natasha Rothwell, who played Belinda the spa manager at the Maui resort, is confirmed to be starring in the thrilling new season. With her eager return to the cast, Rothwell has revealed the significant plot developments the new episodes hold. “I actually just finished reading all of the scripts. Buckle-up. That's all I gotta say. It's an incredible season of television”. Her brisk comments leave us all on the edge of our seats in anticipation for this exceptionally hyped spin-off and its expected shocking plot twists.

Where will it be set?

Whilst the last two seasons were set in Maui and Sicily, HBO has confirmed the next season’s location to be set across the Pacific Ocean on an exotic journey to Thailand. Following in the pattern of seasons one and two which were set in the flagship Four Seasons resorts, season three could be set in either of the four chains spread across Thailand's diverse territory. Exciting not only for its scenic potential, a White Lotus in Thailand opens up a plethora of opportunities to explore Eastern culture, aligning with Mike White's intentions for the show.

What can we expect?

Not many plot spoilers have been divulged, however, White has slipped some potential areas of exploration in an HBO interview. Can we expect some justice for Tanya’s tragic ending? Here’s what White had to say regarding the loose ends of her story: "I think, as far as what happens to Greg and the conspiracy of Tanya's death, it's possible that I think Portia is scared enough to just leave it alone. But the fact that all of those guys die on the boat, it feels like there's gotta be somebody who’s gonna track it back down to Greg. But maybe you’ll have to wait and find out what happens”.

With a general theme centred on “a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality”, White’s hints leave the next season a tantalising enigma of possibilities. Ultimately, as its production date of February of this year comes closer, only time can tell what fate holds for the legacy of The White Lotus.
