Seeking a brief respite from the downtown hustle, we visited this trendy hotel for a one-night stay, indulging in complimentary minibars and the city's inaugural hotel vegetarian restaurant.
Central location
Strategically situated on Arbuthnot Road, between Lan Kwai Fong and Soho, Ovolo Central serves as the flagship location among the group's three Hong Kong properties and various Australian outposts. Guests can enjoy the convenience of being just a short stroll away from chic bars, Michelin-starred restaurants, and the cultural hub of Tai Kwun, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. Moreover, local residents are welcome to bring their furry companions along for the stay, as the hotel is pet-friendly.
Design-savvy boutique
Inside, Ovolo Central impresses with its contemporary interior design, featuring vibrant murals and retro furnishings. Upon entering the lift lobby, the halls resonate with nostalgic 80s music, adding a touch of nostalgia to the atmosphere. Despite its prime location in Central, the hotel offers affordable rates, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers.
Facilities
The hotel's guest-centric approach is evident in its array of complimentary benefits. Guests can relish a delicious breakfast to kickstart their day, enjoy high-speed WiFi for work-related tasks, avail themselves of self-service laundry facilities for added convenience, and have round-the-clock access to the well-equipped gym. The minibar is also on the house, allowing guests to craft in-room cocktails before venturing to the bar to savor sundowner drinks during the social hour.
Simple yet chic
Ovolo Central offers 42 rooms spread across 24 floors, providing guests with a choice between the Gold Room, Platinum Room, and Radio Suite. During our stay, we opted for the spacious and modern Platinum Room, which featured a king-sized bed, a work desk, and a dining table. The bedroom boasted simple yet trendy décor with colorful murals, while the bathroom exuded a minimal and clean aesthetic. In-room amenities included a Nespresso machine and facilities for making coffee and tea.
Vegetarian dining
Highlighting a significant milestone in the local dining scene, VEDA, Hong Kong's first hotel vegetarian restaurant, resides below the lobby area. Derived from the Sanskrit word "vid," meaning "to know," VEDA offers a cozy ambiance for all-day dining and a mini cocktail bar. The restaurant also features an outdoor area where guests can dine with their canine companions. Our four-course dinner at VEDA showcased delectable dishes such as Silk Road Momos and Cashew Naan Pizza, while breakfast delighted us with VEDA's Breakfast, albeit missing hash browns and baked beans on that particular day.
