BANGKOK

COMO Hotels and Resorts has officially reopened COMO Metropolitan Bangkok, unveiling a full redesign that marks a significant new phase for the hotel after more than two decades in operation. The reopening brings updated interiors by acclaimed Italian designer Paola Navone, new culinary concepts, and enhanced wellness offerings — reaffirming the property’s reputation as one of Bangkok’s leading urban retreats.

Located in the city’s Central Business District, the 137-room hotel has been completely reimagined to reflect COMO’s vision of contemporary urban living. Navone, who previously collaborated with the group on COMO Point Yamu in Phuket, drew inspiration from Thailand’s materials and craftsmanship, integrating wood, stone, and ceramic with subtle nods to traditional design. Her palette balances calming neutrals with warm accents of Buddhist orange, while features such as oversized woven seat-backs and textured stone surfaces create a sense of tactile luxury.

The redesigned lobby anchors the new aesthetic. Its counter, clad in carved stone, references Thai temple masonry, while a patterned bamboo wall overhead filters the tropical light, setting a tone of understated modernism.

“With our urban properties, I’ve always wanted to create hotels with spirit which are dynamic and design-forward,” said Christina Ong, founder of COMO Hotels and Resorts. “But they also need to be elegant and exceptionally comfortable — places where our guests can retreat from the city to enjoy a pared-back, almost meditative simplicity.”

Refreshed Culinary Concepts

The reopening strengthens COMO’s reputation for gastronomy. nahm, the hotel’s signature Thai restaurant led by Chef Pim Techamuanvivit, continues to hold a Michelin star for the eighth consecutive year, recognised for its refined approach to regional Thai cuisine that balances sweet, salty, hot, and sour elements.

Complementing nahm is the debut of COMO Cuisine, the brand’s first outlet in Thailand, located on the hotel’s second floor. The all-day dining restaurant was developed by Culinary Vice President Daniel Moran and Group Executive Chef Amanda Gale, offering a mix of comfort classics, international dishes, and lighter options. Menus include selections from COMO Shambhala Kitchen, the group’s wellness dining concept, featuring nutrient-rich meals, energising juices, and dishes free from refined sugar, salt, and additives.

Expanded Wellness Facilities & Cultural Experiences

COMO Metropolitan Bangkok’s COMO Shambhala Urban Escape — a long-standing cornerstone of the brand — has also been refreshed. The space includes ten treatment rooms, a hydro pool, yoga studio, and a fully equipped fitness centre, providing guests with a complete urban wellness experience. COMO Shambhala’s approach centres on holistic rejuvenation through movement, mindfulness, and nutrition.

The relaunch introduces Iconic Experiences, designed to connect travellers with Bangkok’s creative and cultural landscape. New offerings include a private shopping tour in collaboration with Club 21, Christina Ong’s international luxury retail company, as well as visits to Monsoon Valley Siam Winery — one of Thailand’s pioneering vineyards — where guests can explore local viticulture and wine pairings featured at nahm.

The reopening of COMO Metropolitan Bangkok forms part of a wider growth strategy for COMO Hotels and Resorts. The brand now operates five urban hotels — two in London, and one each in Perth, Singapore, and Bangkok — with a sixth set to open in Melbourne in 2028.

With its new design, revitalised dining and wellness programmes, and cultural immersion experiences, COMO Metropolitan Bangkok reestablishes itself as a cornerstone of modern hospitality in the Thai capital — combining the vibrancy of city life with the serenity of COMO’s signature approach to contemporary luxury.
