JOMARCH Beauty is a pioneer in the clean beauty industry. The Malaysian-born label was founded by Jo, an entrepreneur who discovered the powers of natural skincare when she was looking for a solution to her personal skin issues. Now, she's able to share her experiences and learned what worked – and what didn't work through trial and error of endless brands and products. Here, she chats to us about how she got into the industry and what clean beauty means in the world of JO MARCH.

Could you tell us about yourself and how you got into the clean beauty industry?
My name is Jo and I am the founder of JOMARCH Beauty. Prior to my venturing into the beauty industry, I'd always follow all the brands and products launching and make sure I got the new products as soon as they launched. I always think that the most expensive products give the best benefits to my skin. Nevertheless, the ongoing misuse of products has resulted in a nightmare towards my skin condition. For over two years, I’ve been under medication to control my sensitive skin condition. Until the year 2018, upon noticing the key ingredient for each product and clean beauty, I started to apply clean and natural skincare products. Within a six-month period, I saw a drastic change in my skin condition. With this, I was determined to venture into the clean beauty industry which meant I could share my experience and to raise awareness when choosing any skincare products.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty is grown but not made. It's like our skin, so what we apply to it is what it will become. Secondly, I strongly believe that all beauty grows with a good soul, as per one of the oldest Chinese transcripts, “相由心生". Clean beauty promotes cruelty-free and non-toxic ingredients that are in line with creating a good cause, or what I define as inner beauty. For me, all women deserve beauty – inner beauty and outer beauty! We hope every woman can be able to empower themselves to look and feel good. Always be elegant, confident and have grace.
How did you start JOMARCH?
I start JOMARCH BEAUTY when I suffered from a bad skin condition. I had been talking with various skin specialists to find out the root cause of my bad skin and had been using different skincare products from small to big brands in the market but found no huge improvement to my skin condition. I was then determined to find less harmful alternatives and found out that clean and natural skincare products did help to improve my skin condition. After sharing my experience with friends, I realised that many people are do not understand their skin’s needs and some people were going through my previous skin condition. This is what inspired me to start own skincare brand so that I can share my previous experience and raise awareness and guidance for anyone choosing any skincare product.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration from customer feedback, interviews with different skincare brand owners and exhibitions.
What are the most important elements of your brand?
We have top-quality products but at very affordable prices. We want all our customers to pay less but enjoy premium quality skincare products.
Every product is made with love. As the brand owner, I try every new formula on my own skin for at least six months before deciding to launch any new formula.
What do you hope customers take away with your products?

Secondly, we hope customers gain knowledge. I want our customers to be able to bring back some skincare knowledge upon consulting our customer service team or even myself. This will help them to understand their actual skin requirements and be able to choose ideal products to feed their skin. I truly believe that what goes on your skin has a significant impact on how your body works too.
What are your top recommendations with JOMARCH products?
My top recommendations would be:
Multi-Defense Broad Spectrum Mineral Sunscreen – it's a weightless non-silicone facial sunscreen with hydrating and nourishing effects. It also helps to strengthen the skin’s natural protective barrier and soothe UV-irritated skin. It comes with a beige tint that goes on sheer and is able to blend in as a universal tint to create a unified and healthy-looking, glowing complexion. It's a great alternative for foundation if you're looking for light makeup.
Nude Repairing Mask – named as our “SOS” mask by many because it is ideal for instant hydration and can reduce redness. It is a “Seaweed Fibre Sheet Mask” which means the benefit is that it's allowed the essence of the mask to be absorbed into our skin in a one-dimensional flow. The seaweed fibre organically produces a hydration effect and hence together with the essence of the mask, a piece of our Nude Repairing Mask is able to provide Double Hydration Effect.
Barrier Recovery Face Oil – this is our new product which has just launched (10th March 2022). I recommend this as this facial oil since it's perfect and ideal for the current situation: people are required to wear surgery face masks and can develop “maskne” easily. It is a feather-light facial oil for mega nourishing to replenish natural ceramides and rebuild the skin’s moisture barrier. It is blended with five powerful natural potent ingredients – just a tiny drop is sufficient to instantly transform and strengthen your skin, leaving skin more plump, soft and glowing.

How do you curate your collections?
Each ingredient is selected very carefully and as a brand owner, I insist on testing every product on my own sensitive skin for at least six months to obtain help and feedback for people with different skin types such as oily, combination, etc. prior to making any decisions to launch a new product.

What's next for your brand and what can we look forward to?
There are a few ongoing projects we are working on. Most of our key projects have the common mission to give back to the women community. For instance, we have just raised funds for WoW (Women of Will, a non-profit organisation) which is meant to support unfortunate women in the community. Moving forward, we are also developing more variety in our products, from skincare to soul healing. As mentioned earlier, we strongly believe that beauty is grown from the inside as well!
