This year marks the 18th edition of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau, and the 100th anniversary of the Michelin Star globally. It’s truly a special year for those who retained their Stars, got promoted, or became new recipients.
The prestigious event for the culinary elite took place at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort in Macau for the fifth year. A total of 278 restaurants, including 219 in Hong Kong and 59 in Macau, across the Michelin Star, Bib Gourmand, and Selected categories received their laurels. Moreover, the Michelin Chef Award was given for the first time in this year’s edition to honour those who share their knowledge to guide others toward excellence.
Seven restaurants in Hong Kong retained their Three Stars: 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo – Bombana, Amber, Caprice, Forum, Sushi Shikon, Ta Vie, and T’ang Court. Meanwhile, in Macau, UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Jade Dragon, and Robuchon au Dôme continued to showcase culinary excellence.

Two new restaurants were promoted from One Star to Two Stars: Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic, the celebrity chef’s second venture in Asia, and L’Atelier De Joël Robuchon, which made a comeback after a recent refurbishment.
Two newcomers joined the ranks of One Michelin Star recipients: China Tang and Sushi Takeshi in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Don Alfono and Palace Garden in Macau have been promoted from the Michelin Selected category to One Star.
In the Green Star category, five restaurants maintained their status: Amber, Feuille, Mora, Roganic from Hong Kong, as well as UTM Education Restaurant Macau. This year’s Michelin Guide Young Chef Award went to chef Kim GwanJu of Sol, a newly Selected restaurant, while Jenny Ye from The Huaiyang Garden (a Two Star holder) received the Michelin Guide Service Award. Sommelier Floriane Hureau of Caprice took home the Michelin Guide Sommelier Award. The inaugural Michelin Guide Mentor Chef Award was handed to chef Paul Lau Ping Lui from Tin Lung Heen (a Two Star holder), who started in the culinary world at just 14 years old and has dedicated almost five decades to showcasing Cantonese cuisine.
