Vegan and vegetarian restaurants have spruced up around Hong Kong as a result of the growing demand for plant-based menus. For those restaurants which aren’t fully plant-based, vegan options are now integrated on the menus (for example, the Impossible Burger at Honbo). Relaunching and rebranding from its previous concept, CASA, Sai Kung’s 2084 has stepped up its game in the market, offering a fully plant-based menu with specialties including tacos and Indian-inspired curries and appetisers. CSP Times visited the vegan eatery to try some of the favourites.
Al-Fresco Space
Situated in Sai Kung town’s “square” (an open-air hub with some of the best brunches and dinner options), 2084 holds an inviting atmosphere with its al-fresco front and cosy indoors. The menu is expansive, with options ranging from snacks to main courses depending on your appetite. Staff are friendly and happy to recommend dishes based on your preferences.
We Recommend…
As a Sai Kung regular, we’ve actually tried a lot of the dishes from numerous visits. All are delicious, although some a bit too spicy for me. Some of the recommendations include the Peking Oyster Mushroom Tacos, a crispy, yet juicy and succulent combination of refined peking sauce with soft taco—the spring onions add a kick. The Bahn Mi vegan hot dog is an unexpected twist on the Vietnamese-French classic but the vegan tempeh “sausage” makes it work. Be sure to try out all the scrumptious tapas on the menu—we only have great things to say.
