HONG KONG
Hong Kong’s Lantau Island is most often thought of as a gateway — home to the city’s bustling international airport, the iconic Ngong Ping Cable Car, and the spiritual calm of the Big Buddha.
Yet hidden in plain sight above Citygate Outlets, a modern luxury retreat has been quietly redefining the airport-hotel experience since its opening in the summer of 2022. The Silveri Hong Kong – MGallery, part of Accor’s boutique-inspired MGallery Collection, is a property that blends convenience with serenity, offering a refined escape that feels worlds apart from its urban surrounds.

A Location Between City and Nature
The Silveri sits in Tung Chung, just one stop away from Hong Kong Disneyland and a quick bus or taxi ride away from Hong Kong International Airport. This makes it a natural choice for business travellers and families alike. But what elevates its appeal is proximity to Lantau’s natural wonders: guests can hop on the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car for sweeping views of the South China Sea, visit the Po Lin Monastery and Tian Tan Buddha, or wander the traditional fishing village of Tai O, where stilt houses and pink dolphins highlight Hong Kong’s heritage side.
For locals, the appeal is more immediate: Citygate’s luxury outlet mall lies directly beneath the hotel, while hiking trails up Sunset Peak or Lantau Peak are practically on the doorstep. In many ways, The Silveri is uniquely positioned to cater to both the stopover traveller and the staycationer seeking a quick reset.
Unlike many city hotels, The Silveri doesn’t settle for sleek interiors alone. Its identity is anchored by the Five Guardians, a design narrative inspired by Lantau’s natural and cultural landscape. These guardians — the Hiker, Gardener, Birdlady, Dancer and Fisherman — are woven into the property through art, subtle motifs, and the hotel’s branding.
It’s a creative choice that adds storytelling to the stay, giving the hotel a distinctive personality rooted in place. For a brand like MGallery, known for properties that carry a sense of local culture, The Silveri’s guardians feel like more than decoration: they turn the hotel into a living homage to Lantau’s ecology and heritage.

Rooms: Modern Minimalism with a Luxurious Touch
Our stay in the Executive Room (26 square metres/280 square feet) revealed a space that balances compact practicality with indulgent details. The interiors are calm and contemporary: creamy marble and pale wood dominate the palette, while brushed gold accents add just enough glamour.
The bathroom is particularly generous for the room category, with a deep soaking tub, a jet-panel shower, and luxury MALIN+GOETZ amenities. From the bath, views stretch across greenery and the hotel’s pool, a reminder of how unexpectedly tranquil this Tung Chung location can be.
A Nespresso machine and JING Tea selection ensured mornings started well, while the plush bedding and blackout curtains made it all too easy to linger late into the morning. Suites come with private outdoor terraces with a Jacuzzi or your own private plunge pool.

Poolside Escape & Executive Lounge
For many guests, the real highlight of The Silveri lies outdoors. The swimming pool is a lush sanctuary, ringed by manicured greenery and dotted with private cabanas. It feels more like a tropical resort than a city hotel, an effect heightened by the dramatic mountain backdrop. On clear days, it’s an irresistible spot to laze in the sun or swim a few leisurely laps.
Executive Room guests gain access to the Executive Lounge, which, though understated in design, excels in service. Throughout the day, refreshments are available, but it’s the evening cocktail hour that shines. Watching planes take off in the distance with a glass of wine in hand created one of the most memorable moments of the stay — a blend of tranquillity and dynamism that could only happen in Tung Chung.

Dining
The hotel’s signature restaurant, The Enclave, offers a menu that spans international classics and Asian-inspired plates, with a casual elegance that suits both business lunches and leisurely weekend meals. Breakfast is plentiful: think eggs made to order, buttery pastries, Hong Kong waffles, dim sum, and fresh fruit — enough to cater to every traveller profile.
On weekends, the Weekend Escape Brunch (HK$318 per person) elevates dining into an experience. Beginning with a dramatic seafood tower piled with oysters, prawns, tuna, salmon, and octopus, the brunch continues with a choice of mains and an abundant buffet. It feels indulgent yet approachable, and positions The Silveri as a dining destination not just for hotel guests but for locals seeking a new brunch ritual.
There is also The Pavilion, a sleek cocktail bar with stunning views and a terrace, and Fresh, which is the hotel's very own coffee shop serving premium Italian brews.

The Verdict
At around HK$1,500 per night for an Executive Room, The Silveri delivers notable value for a property that manages to combine design-led luxury, proximity to the airport, and a tranquil resort feel. While it doesn’t yet boast a spa — something wellness travellers might miss — the inviting pool, well-equipped gym, and pampering amenities bridge the gap.
For business travellers transiting through Hong Kong, shoppers drawn to Citygate’s outlet offerings, or locals craving a poolside retreat, The Silveri hits the right notes. More importantly, it surprises: the serenity of its gardens and poolside hideaways feels far removed from its shopping mall perch.
