It was the romance rumour that refused to die. In 2023, promotional images of Anyone But You stars Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney sparked a media frenzy — a cinematic slow-burn that quickly spilled into real-life speculation. As fans dissected their every move behind the scenes, the film’s off-screen narrative began to eclipse the one on screen. The issue? Both actors were very much in relationships at the time.

Powell’s then-girlfriend, model Gigi Paris, remained notably silent through the social media storm — until now.

Speaking candidly on the Too Much podcast this week, Paris offered rare insight into the emotional toll the saga took behind the glossy press circuit and grainy paparazzi shots.

“It was just, this is what I have to do for my job. I had two options. I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, ‘Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she OK with this? What the f–k?’” Paris, 32, said.

“Or stand up for myself and say, ‘No, I’m actually not OK with this, and I’m walking away,’” she added. “So that’s what I decided to do.”

“I just wanted respect, especially if it’s gonna be public,” she explained.“Like, don’t make an ass out of me. Like, just don’t make a fool out of someone you’ve been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know?”

Paris, known for her poise and penchant for wellness, continued: “And at the end of the day, it was like, well, work comes first. And if that’s the case, power to you, that’s your priority. I gotta walk away. What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs.”

Her most striking remarks touched not just on heartbreak, but on the quiet expectation of loyalty — or at the very least, honesty.

“Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, ‘No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn’t do that.’ That’s all that needed to be said,” she said. “And that wasn’t said … Never once.”

Paris went further, suggesting the media circus may not have been incidental. “It was serving them for their PR,” she said of Powell and Sweeney. “Later on, it turned out that it was all, I don’t know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship. Like, it was just crazy.”

Even now, there’s a lingering trace of grace in her final admission: “Just to sell a movie or not, who knows? And I honestly hoped that they’d end up together, because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me, you know? I hope they are in love or whatnot.”

Here's what we know about Gigi Paris and her successful endeavours.

Who is Gigi Paris?

Born in Miami to French and Venezuelan parents, Paris grew up with sun-drenched beach days and homemade arepas. She was scouted as a model at just 14 while visiting her grandmother in New York City and made her print debut a year later in Seventeen. Today, she splits her time between modelling, acting classes, yoga practice, and running her clothing label, Jijou.

How did Gigi Paris meet Glen Powell?

According to Paris' interview on the Too Much podcast, the former couple met through a friend. "One of my very good friends actually introduced [us]," she shared. "I was newly single, I think I was 27 at the time. I didn't have a care in the world." She said they went on a brunch date and immediately hit it off. They ended up quarantining together during COVID-19, she added. "I was crafting everyday and he was writing," she added. "When life opened up again I was thrown into the Hollywood world," she explained. By February 2021, they had made things Instagram official.

Why did Gigi Paris and Glen Powell break up?

The relationship quietly came to an end in 2023, during Powell’s time filming in Australia. “He called and said, ‘The producers and I have discussed that I think it’s best that you don’t come to visit.’ … And that’s when I hung up. And I was like, ‘This motherf–ker is done to me,’” Paris recalled in her recent interview on the Too Much podcast. “Once I got that phone call, I just knew it was done. I had lost whoever that person was that I loved.”
