When Dua Lipa shares where she’s eating, drinking or holidaying, the internet pays attention.
During a feature with Service95, Lipa revealed one of her latest discoveries in Thailand, Mod Kaew Wine Bar, an understated natural wine bar tucked away in Bangkok. Whilst it may not appear to be on every tourist’s itinerary, it is precisely the kind of neighbourhood that has become synonymous with Dua Lipa’s approach to travel: local, characterful and effortlessly cool.
A Closer Look At Mod Kaew Wine Bar, Bangkok

Part of Mod Kaew’s charm lies in its discretion. Far removed from Bangkok’s luxury bars and rooftop cocktail lounges, the venue has largely built up its following through word of mouth rather than social media spectacle. Open daily from 4pm till late, it offers a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere where locals and visitors gather over exceptional wines and thoughtfully prepared food.

The bar strikes a careful balance between understated and inviting. There is no pretence here, only good music, warm hospitality and an appreciation for quality that feels refreshingly genuine. At the heart of Mod Kaew is its carefully curated wine programme. Championing low-intervention wines from Spain and France from independent producers, the bar celebrates bottles that express both place and craftsmanship. Whether you’re already familiar with natural wine or discovering it for the first time, the selection Mod Kaew has to offer feels approachable rather than intimidating, with sommeliers on hand to guide guests through the menu.

And if wine doesn’t take your fancy, the wider drinks list is equally considered. Signature cocktails include the Malmo Spritz, a distinctly Thai twist on the classic Aperol version and a Negroni Mut, a smoky twist on another Italian staple. Together, they reflect the bar’s willingness to reinterpret familiar classics with creativity and local influence.
The kitchen is every bit as impressive. Mod Kaew’s menu effortlessly blends Western comforts with Asian influences, creating dishes designed for sharing alongside a carefully chosen bottle. Expect elevated plates such as Beef Tartare, Burrata, handmade Pasta and expertly prepared meat dishes, each executed with the same attention to detail that defines the drinks programme. The venue has proven to push culinary boundaries through creative collaborations, most recently partnering with two Michelin-starred chefs to host the “Bitta-Banging” dining experience, a testament to Mod Kaew’s growing reputation within Bangkok’s food scene.

Mod Kaew is only one example to show how luxury travel is increasingly defined not by exclusivity alone but by discovery. The most memorable destinations are often the ones tucked away, the hidden gems. Mod Kaew Wine Bar perfectly embodies this spirit, relaxed yet refined, offering a side of Bangkok that rewards curiosity over convention.
