1. Kesalan Patharan is one of Pias Corporation's award-winning beauty brands. What makes Kesalan Patharan unique and how did Kesalan Patharan grow into the success it has today?
ケサランパサランは、メイクアップアーティスト ワタナベサブロウ氏のプロデュースにより、美容室(ヘアーサロン)からスタートしました。ワタナベサブロウ氏は、日本におけるヘア＆メイクアップアーティストの先駆者のひとりとして知られています。1987年に誕生以来、20年以上にわたって豊富なカラーバリエーションやリアルに効果を実感していただける化粧品を開発。更にはプロフェッショナルなメイクアップテクニックの一つとして、アイラッシュエクステンションサービスを提供するなど、時代に合わせて進化を続けているメイクアップブランドです。また、日本では、メークアップアーティストの育成にも協力しています。
香港での展開は17年目となり、香港では、特にアイラッシュエクステンションサービスを多くのお客様にご利用頂いています。
Kesalan Patharan was founded by Mr Saburou Watanabe and originally started as a hair salon. Mr Watanabe is a renowned hairstylist and makeup artist in Japan. Since its establishment in 1987, the brand has been offering a rich selection of cosmetic services and products that deliver natural-looking results for over 20 years. In addition to their foundation, the brand has expanded its services to include evolving eyelash treatments that keep up with current trends. The brand is also dedicated to cultivating professional makeup artists in Japan.
Now in its 17th year in Hong Kong, Kesalan Patharan was the first makeup brand to offer eyelash extension services in the city. It has become one of the most well-known eyelash service brands in Hong Kong, earning the loyalty of many customers.

3. Can you describe Kesalan Patharan’s training from apprentices to eyelash extension specialists?
私たちの基礎レベルトレーニング期間は約3-6か月です。ケサランパサランの基準に満たない研修生は、合格できるまで1年以上かかるスタッフもいます。昨今は、1～2か月程度で技術を学べるトレーニングもあるようですが、私たちの技術レベルの要求基準は、それだけ高く、1～2か月で習得はできません。ケサランパサランでは20年以上の経験を持つトレーナーが指導を行い、基礎技術を習得できた後も、例えば、日本に出張し、日本本社で技術レベルの確認を行い、更なる高度技術のトレーニングを継続します。一人一人のお客様にあったアイラッシュデザインの提案力も含み、常にサービス品質の維持・向上に努めています。
Our basic level training period for junior eyelash stylists is approximately 3-6 months. Some trainees who do not meet the Kesaran Patharan standards during that initial time period may take over a year to pass. Nowadays, there are many courses that claim to teach the techniques of eyelash extension in 1-2 months. However, Kesalan Patharan's required level of expertise is often higher than those in the market, and 1-2 months of training is not sufficient to master our techniques. The training at Kesaran Patharan is led by those with over 20 years of professional experience and even after mastering the basic techniques, the training continues in different forms like travelling to Japan for assessment to receive qualifications at the Japan headquarters. To ensure that our eyelash stylists have the ability to provide personalised eyelash styling services tailored to each individual customer, we always strive to improve and maintain our service quality.
4. What do you look for when sourcing your staff?
「素直さ」、「創造性」、「セルフモチベーション」。そして、ケサランパサランのチームの一員としてお互いをサポートしながら働けるスタッフを採用しています。ケサランパサランがアイラッシュデザイナーに求める技術レベルの基準は同業他社に比べかなり高いので、経験者であっても、基礎技術のトレーニングから始めます。その為、一から学ぶ姿勢≒「素直さ」が必要になります。基礎技術を習得した上で、一人一人のお客様にあったアイラッシュデザインの提案が必要となります。その為に「創造性」が必要となります。技術レベルの上限はありませんので、アイラッシュデザイナーとして、自らが常に技術ﾚﾍﾞﾙ向上に努める必要があります。また、お客様が求めるアイラッシュデザインは日々変化し、それに応えられる技術が必要です。その為に「セルフモチベーション」が重要です。それらの資質を持ち、且つ、ケサランパサランのチームの一員として、お互いが協力し、且つ、切磋琢磨し、ケサランパサランの技術を受け継いでいけるチームワークが重要と考えています。
We focus on looking for "Humble", "Creative", "Self-motivation" individuals, who have the ability to support others in the Kesalan Patharan team. As Kesalan Patharan requires higher standards of eyelash extension techniques compared to the industry, even experienced professionals start with training in the basics. Therefore, having a "beginner's mindset" or being "humble" is a necessary attitude for learning from scratch. After mastering the basic skills, eyelash specialists need to design the most ideal eyelash styles for each customer, which requires "creativity". On the other hand, there is no limit to the technical proficiency of eyelash professionals, so they need to have the self-motivation to constantly improve their skills. In addition, customers' demands for eyelash styles are constantly changing, so the ability to adapt and keep up with the latest trends is crucial. We believe that having these three traits, along with supporting each other to work together towards a common goal, are important qualities to consider when sourcing for team cooperation in Kesalan Patharan.

With Kesalan Patharan's attentive consultation process and our exquisite Japanese eyelash styling techniques, all customers can experience a tailor-made "beauty”. The lash artist will first introduce the extension method, various styles and looks, then decide on the appropriate design together with the customer. Then, with professional techniques, they will clean the eyelashes, protect the eyes, carefully attach the eyelashes, and blow dry them. After, customers will be advised on care methods and specialized eyelash products. We are waiting for you in our outposts across Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Central.
