Hush Home Launches the Hush Duo — Hong Kong's First Mattress With Independent Firmness on Each Side

Hong Kong sleep brand Hush Home has introduced the Hush Duo Mattress™, an 11-inch hybrid design built to solve one of the most common complaints among couples who share a bed: two people rarely want the same firmness.

Body type, sleep position, and support needs vary enormously from person to person, and a standard mattress only ever offers one fixed feel — which usually means one partner is quietly compromising every night. Hush Home spent time developing Hush Duo with input from more than 150 couples, studying the specific friction points that come with sharing a mattress rather than assuming a single firmness could ever satisfy two different sleepers. The result is a mattress engineered to let each side feel completely different, without physically splitting the bed in two.

How the Comfort System Works

Hush Duo's core innovation is a modular insert system rather than a fixed foam layer. Each side of the mattress comes with an interchangeable Comfort Insert and Support Insert, and by rearranging or swapping these at home, sleepers can configure their own side to one of four firmness levels — Medium-Soft, Medium, Medium-Firm, or Firm. The mattress ships in the most popular Medium-Firm configuration, but owners can unzip the quilted cover and reconfigure the inserts themselves whenever their preferences change, with no tools or technician required.

Despite the internal zones being fully independent, a single continuous quilted cover runs across the entire mattress, so there's no dividing seam or noticeable centre line between the two sides — just one flat, shared sleeping surface with two different feels underneath.

The inserts themselves are built in two materials: the Comfort Insert uses 4cm of high-density cooling memory foam for contouring and pressure relief, while the Support Insert uses 4cm of high-density orthopaedic open-cell foam for firmer support and better weight distribution. Both are wrapped in breathable mesh to keep air moving through the internal structure.

The Foundation Underneath

Regardless of which firmness combination a sleeper chooses, every configuration sits on the same base: roughly 16cm of five-zone, hyper-tensioned independent pocket coils, targeting the shoulders, back, and hips for more even weight distribution and spinal alignment. Because each coil moves independently and is pre-tensioned before being sealed into its own fabric sleeve, the system is also designed to limit motion transfer — useful for couples on different sleep schedules, where one partner getting in or out of bed shouldn't wake the other. An extra-firm foam encasement, branded EdgeSupport™, reinforces the perimeter of the mattress to prevent sagging at the edges and maximise usable sleeping surface.

Built-In Cooling

Sharing a bed tends to trap more heat, and Hush Duo addresses that with a cooling system called ArcticFlow™, combining a cool-to-the-touch Ice Silk surface fabric with breathable open-cell foam underneath and ventilated side panels. Together, Hush Home states the system can lower perceived body temperature by up to 2°C compared to a standard mattress setup.

The mattress carries several recognised manufacturing and materials certifications, including OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, CertiPUR-US®, EN597-1, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and BS OHSAS 18001.

Rather than treating firmness as a permanent, one-time decision, Hush Duo is built around the idea that sleep needs shift over time — through weight changes, pregnancy, injury, or simply changing preference. Replacement inserts remain available for the life of the mattress, and within the first five years of purchase, customers can place one renewal order for up to four Comfort or Support Inserts at discounted pricing, with a full four-insert refresh capped at no more than 15% of the mattress's original list price. It's a structure designed to let owners update their mattress rather than replace it outright.
