Airy, striking and enchanting-all at the same time-is the epitome of Australian designer Nikki Zimmermann’s Spring ‘24 RTW Collection. Launching just last week, ‘Natura’ has made quite the impression; deriving inspiration from Australia’s eclectic beauty within nature through various art forms. Think fluid gradient silk to reference abstract landscapes, to infinite floral patterns as a rendition of romantic garden scenes.

“We worked quite delicately with fabrics and textiles this season, techniques like laser cutting, ornamental, hand-sewn appliqué flowers like magnolias and orchids, and lots of draping to elevate simple silhouettes,” explained Zimmermann at Paris Fashion Week. A trailblazer in floral dressing, applique this season may well be deemed unprecedented; with signature, silk organza dresses gathered to a bed of garden flowers spanned across the decolletage, the intricacy of each attachment is world-class. See below the key silhouettes that stood out at the Palais de Tokyo.

For a brand known for its summery florals, it does its job in crafting covetable garments designed in luxurious premium linen. From ruched picnic dresses to more masculine suit jackets, there are endless ways to dress for a warm climate. A silk linen organza blend provides a buoyant structure ideal for formalities, while 100% linen longline jackets imply ‘comfortable cool’.

A favourite from the stage was the Natura Feather Slip Gown; featuring an asymmetrical neckline sheathing the decolletage delightfully-not to mention intricate garden scenes scattered across the garment.

Last to exit Zimmermann’s S24 Runway, was a two-piece crafted from signature silk organza which lucidly glided through Palais de Tokyo. While there is also a mini dress version in a striking ‘tomato’, the top and skirt not only add duality but are made into a muted ‘toffee’ silk-elegant as ever. Seen by both, the expertly cut layers of fabric fall beautifully on the wearer; elongating the body, while the sheerness adds an airy quality to the look. The brand leveraged its loyalty to silk organza and designed a fresh work of art.
