HONG KONG

There's something a little charming about the fact that the world's favourite bitter red drink also happens to power one of the drinks industry's biggest charitable pushes. Negroni Week lands for its 14th edition this year, running globally from September 21 to 27, and Hong Kong and Macau's stretch of it is a genuinely good one — a Bangkok-fronted opening night, a free-flowing Thursday party, a guest shift down in Macao, and a workshop for anyone who'd rather learn to make the thing properly than just drink it.

Monday, September 21 — The Opening Night at Zuma

Zuma got first billing this year, hosting the official kickoff from 6 to 9pm with two guest bartenders flown in from Bangkok for a single night. Matteo Cadeddu runs the bar at Opium, currently No. 25 on Asia's 50 Best Bars and No. 4 in Thailand, a room built on the idea of "Liquid Surreality" tucked above Chinatown's Yaowarat. Michele Montauti oversees drinks at Aman Nai Lert Bangkok's Aman Lounge, where Japanese technique meets Thai ingredients. Between the two visitors and Zuma's own team, the night poured six Campari-based drinks, including a lacto-fermented tomato spin on the Americano and a white truffle Negroni built on shochu — plus two Negroni riffs exclusive to the week itself.

Zuma, Hong Kong| 6pm–9pm

Thursday, September 24 — Negroni Night Fever at Cassio

Cassio is treating the week as an excuse for an actual party: three hours of free-flowing Negronis, Rositas and Campari Spritzes, with the bar's DJ keeping things moving.

Cassio, Hong Kong | 7pm–10pm | HK$198 plus service for three hours of free flow

Thursday, September 24 — A Guest Shift Lands in Macao

The same night, Macao gets its own visiting bartender: Joash Conceicao of Offtrack in Singapore, No. 16 on Asia's 50 Best Bars, taking over Pony & Plume at Capella at Galaxy. Offtrack's reputation rests on a playful, culture-forward approach to drinks, and Conceicao's stop here marks his second appearance in Greater China this week.

Pony & Plume, Capella at Galaxy, Macao | 8.30pm–12.30am

Saturday, September 26 — Learn to Make One Yourself at DIO

For anyone who'd rather leave the week knowing how to build a Negroni rather than just having drunk a few, DIO in Central is running a small, hands-on workshop capped at ten to twelve guests. Campari's own Oscar Choi opens with a bit of brand and Negroni Week history, before DIO's bar manager Wing Chan walks the group through mixing three drinks themselves — a classic Negroni, a Cantonese-inflected Canton Negroni, and a Garibaldi.

DIO, Central | 5pm–6.30pm | Limited to 10–12 guests
