Qué Pasa is bringing a sharper, more street-led expression of Spanish dining to Tai Hang with the launch of its new Street Tapas Menu, available from April 2026 and served daily during dinner.

In a city where street food is second nature, the idea feels almost obvious — yet Spanish “on-the-go” eating culture has rarely been explored in Hong Kong beyond the familiar tapas canon. Head Chef Amaru Morales is aiming to shift that balance, building a menu rooted not in restaurant tradition, but in the everyday eating habits of Spain’s bars, plazas and coastal chiringuitos.

Dishes such as Rabo de Toro y Patatas (crispy patatas meet slow-braised oxtail, HK$88), Croquetas de Rabo HK$78 for two pieces), and Bocadillo de Calamar (hot, freshly fried squid tucked into bread, HK$78) draw directly from Andalusian, Castilian and Madrileño street culture, while Pan con Chorizo ("bread with sausage", HK$88), Adobo de Pescado (fish marinated in vinegar and spices, HK$98) and Torrezno (pork rind, HK$98) bring the rustic intensity of northern and southern bar food into sharper focus for a Hong Kong audience.
There is a clear narrative running through the menu: Spanish street food as lived culture rather than export cuisine. The oxtail-based dishes, for instance, reflect a long tradition of slow, resourceful cooking in southern Spain, where rabo de toro has evolved from festival dish to everyday tapa. The squid sandwich — arguably Madrid’s most iconic street bite — arrives here with a modern lift of piparra sauce, while the torrezno keeps its unapologetic focus on texture, crunch and pork richness.

Chef Amaru’s approach, however, is not purely archival. Each dish is subtly reframed for the Hong Kong palate, whether through sharper acidity, added heat, or a more pronounced textural contrast.
The menu sits comfortably alongside Qué Pasa’s broader identity as a casual, wine-led neighbourhood restaurant in Tai Hang, where Spanish cooking is treated less as fixed tradition and more as a flexible language. Plates are designed for sharing, arriving in no particular order, and intended to move easily between cocktails, beer and conversation.
To round out the experience, the restaurant continues its daily happy hour from 3pm to 8pm, with selected drinks priced at HK$48, including Spanish-inspired serves such as Marianito and Agua de Valencia alongside wine, beer and non-alcoholic options.
Available from 8 April 2026, the Street Tapas Menu is priced between HK$68 and HK$98 per dish, positioning itself firmly within the city’s growing appetite for high-quality, informal dining that doesn’t dilute technique or story.
