What to Know About Nicole Kidman's Rumoured New Romance, Michael Reinstein

Nicole Kidman was photographed sharing an easy, smiling conversation with a new man outside her hotel in Portofino, Italy, this summer — the actress's first publicly documented outing with a male companion since finalising her divorce from Keith Urban. Here's everything confirmed about the sighting and the man himself.

What Happened in Portofino

According to Page Six, Kidman, 59, was photographed on Saturday, July 18, 2026, chatting with businessman Michael Reinstein outside her Portofino hotel. She wore a champagne silk camisole and matching satin skirt; Reinstein wore a blue shirt, shorts, and sunglasses. According to Hello! Magazine, the two lingered on a terrace overlooking the Italian coastline with no apparent rush to end their conversation, later seen laughing together on daybeds by the pool. According to IBTimes UK, Kidman was holidaying in Portofino with her sister, Antonia Kidman, and other family members at the time.

Neither Kidman nor Reinstein has publicly commented on the nature of their relationship, and it remains unclear how the two know each other.

Who Is Michael Reinstein?

According to AOL/People, Reinstein is a Los Angeles native and University of Southern California graduate who founded his global private equity firm, Regent, in 2013, where he serves as chairman and chief investment officer. Regent, based in Beverly Hills, has reportedly led more than 45 acquisitions across the automotive, industrial, consumer, luxury, media, and technology sectors, and has grown to more than 40,000 employees across 65 countries, according to his own company bio. He's also the co-founder of the USN television network and founded the Military Charity Organization in 2018.

Unlike Kidman, Reinstein has largely stayed out of the public eye throughout his career. Following the Portofino photos, he deactivated his Instagram account, which had roughly 43,600 followers at the time, according to Yahoo Entertainment.

This Comes After Kidman's Divorce From Keith Urban

Kidman filed for divorce from country star Keith Urban in late 2025, ending nearly two decades of marriage; the divorce was finalised in January 2026. According to Hello! Magazine, the settlement was reportedly amicable, with neither party paying alimony, and Kidman granted primary custody of the couple's two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Urban continuing to see the girls every other weekend.

The Portofino sighting wasn't the first hint that Kidman may be moving on. According to New Idea, reports had already surfaced in February 2026 that businessman Paul Salem was romantically pursuing the actress, and gossip account Deuxmoi separately claimed in June that Kidman was dating a high-profile figure. A source described Kidman's recent European travels — spanning London, Spain, France, and Italy — as something of a "dating blitz," with friends reportedly helping shortlist potential matches for her to meet.

How Has Keith Urban Reportedly Reacted?

According to the same New Idea report, sources close to Urban say the Portofino photos landed hard. "Up until now he still had hopes there might be a chance at a reconciliation. He's absolutely devastated and is going through that feeling of deep loss all over again," a source said, adding that the sighting effectively "shredded" any lingering hope Urban had of getting back together with Kidman.
