WORCESTERSHIRE

Tucked away in the serene Worcestershire countryside just outside Kidderminster, and a mere two hours from London, Brockencote Hall Hotel offers a refined escape into rural elegance, where wildflowers bloom and the hum of bees fills the air. This grand Victorian manor, part of the award-winning Eden Hotel Collection, achieved AA Small Hotel Group of the Year 2024–2025 and is set within 70 acres of idyllic parkland.

As you wind down the tree-lined drive, glimpses of grazing sheep and sun-dappled fields welcome you with a pastoral charm. But it’s not until you step through the doors of Brockencote Hall Hotel that the awe-inspiring luxury of this country retreat reveals itself.

Wellingtonia

Overlooking the sweeping rear patio and wild meadow beyond, Wellingtonia is the pinnacle of Austen-esque countryside romance. Textured wallpaper is warmed by streaming sunlight from three grand windows, with an eclectic interior that transports you back in history and encourages a moment of stillness, curled up fireside by the sofa or sinking into the enormous bed after a day of rambling.

To complement this still, slower pace, the suite provides unique comforts, including a monthly book selection for reading leisure and a crisp copy of the Group’s newspaper to stay in touch with the world beyond. In the spacious bathroom, guests can request a signature bath service, complete with petals and candles, and perfectly designed to wash away the noise of modern life.

Following a decompress in the tub, guests are invited to slip into a soft robe, sip something warm, and enjoy the regal red and blue hues of the luxury interior design.

Dining and discovery, from sunrise to sunset

Each morning begins with breakfast served fresh to table, with open patio doors inviting the hum of wildlife beyond to wake you slowly from your slumber. Enjoy golden-yolked eggs Benedict and freshly squeezed orange juice straight from the kitchen, with Brockencote Hall Hotel's à la carte menu.

Once reinvigorated with post-breakfast energy, take a wander through the 70 stunning acres of land, and stumble across the tennis court for a casual game. Walk past Brockencote Hall Hotel’s very own beehives and loaded kitchen garden, the source of its seasonal, farm-to-table menus.

Alternatively, opt for something chilled, preferably pink and beautifully presented, like a bottle of Whispering Angel. Enjoy an afternoon on the patio overlooking rolling lawns and open skies, shaded from the sunny yellow Veuve Cliquot parasols.

The Chaddesley Restaurant

The Chaddesley Restaurant is a culinary destination in its own right, as an AA 3 Rosette award-winning countryside gem, widely regarded as one of Worcestershire’s finest. Beloved by both locals and out-of-towners, its menu celebrates seasonal British produce, with ingredients sourced from the estate’s own kitchen garden, with a gastronomic twist.

Each dish offers an equilibrium of flavour and texture. The charred mackerel, smoky and rich, is boldly paired with fiery horseradish, sweet discs of honey-glazed beetroot, and a velveted chicken liver pâté, a plate that speaks to big flavours and technical finesse. For a lighter but by no means less indulgent start, the gin-cured salmon delivers subtle citrus notes of lemon and radish, elevated with a playful burst of caviar pearls.

Moving into the main courses, the menu transitions into classic culinary techniques and presentation for familiar restaurant refinement. The barbecued pork fillet, paired with a glazed cheek, showcases two distinct cuts and underscores the kitchen’s dedication to nose-to-tail sustainability. It’s thoughtful, waste-free cooking that doesn’t compromise on flavour.

To finish, a buttermilk panna cotta arrives, luxuriously creamy and lightly perfumed with tarragon. A drizzle of estate-harvested honey, arrangement of sun-ripened peaches, and a crisp sable crumb complete this true homage to summer pairings; only further complemented with a glass of Whispering Angel.

Petit Plates

For a more relaxed affair with an air of effortless style, Petit Plates offers a contemporary counterpoint to the formal dining room. This intimate, trend-forward space blends the warmth of a casual bar setting with small plate sophistication to appeal to all diners.

Here, sharing is encouraged. Dive into an eclectic array of globally inspired dishes: the soy-glazed pork belly is crisped to perfection, indulgent, savoury and undeniably moreish. A reinvented Caesar salad arrives with crunchy romaine, garlicky mayo, and shavings of parmesan, for a refreshing palette cleanser.

Comfort seekers will appreciate the local butcher’s sausage, served with stewed tomato and borlotti beans in a rustic, homely nod to traditional British food. Meanwhile, the market fish, melts in the mouth and flakes under the fork, beautifully topped with olives and glossed with a generous drizzle of browned caper butter.

To pair, Matt, the house mixologist is on hand to craft impeccable cocktails in a dinner-and-a-show display at the table side bar. Petit Plates is an excellent option for those who want a taste of everything, and struggle to order off a menu as a result of overwhelming choice. Varying combinations of flavours and textures delivers a culinary experience across the board.
