Hong Kong's bold and diverse luxury hospitality scene has made it a favoured destination for discerning travellers everywhere. Outside of the downtown districts, in up-and-coming Taikoo Place is EAST, Hong Kong a swanky business and leisure hotel that's famed for its incredible harbour views, rooftop Sugar bar and indulgent buffets at FEAST by EAST. We check into the hotel for an urban staycation to experience the hotel's Seafood x Cloudy Bay @ EAST package which includes a fresh seafood platter with bubbly, and more.
Although EAST Hong Kong isn't located in prime downtown, its Quarry Bay location allows a refined, pared-back stay that feels miles away from crowds, yet only takes a mere 20 minutes to get to the CBD.
We stayed in the Harbour View Room, a spacious abode showcasing a stunning view of the sea and skyline. The room itself reminded us of something out of Bladerunner, in the best way possible, a futuristic yet minimalistic sophisticated theme that resides throughout the property. Inside, there was a stylish desk – a must for business travellers – a TV, a rainfall shower and soft Queen-sized bed that peers over the panoramic view, best enjoyed come evening while the city lights twinkle in the distance. There was no separation between bathroom and bedroom – which could be a hindrance for some, understandably, but if you're staying alone or with a spouse, it doesn't make much difference and it makes the space look larger too. Plus, who doesn't want to brush their teeth while looking through the seaview window from a sky-high location?
We checked into the hotel to experience the SEAFOOD X CLOUDY BAY @ EAST promotion. The main attraction of the staycation is the dining trip to Sugar, so come hungry.

Feast your eyes on the seafood platter, a treat for crustacean lovers. The fresh tower comes with all you can imagine in the seafood department – fresh oysters, cooked prawns, whelks, king crab, beer-battered cod & scallops, crumbed calamaries. And it gets better – the set comes with a bottle of the new sparkling Cloudy Bay Pelorus, best appreciated as you soak in the exquisite backdrop of Victoria Harbour. Toast to that!
On this side of the island, hotels have more space and are able to offer more in facilities. Though it's owned by the property conglomerate SWIRE, EAST, Hong Kong feels like an independent venture and focuses on the little things, like good service with the essential facilities. The outdoor swimming pool is a quiet respite and the gym is well-equipped with everything you need to keep your fitness up.
After a refreshing swim, we headed back to our room for a nightcap. Changing into a bathrobe and boiling the kettle for a hot cuppa, we spent a good hour admiring the swish view from our cosy bed. EAST, Hong Kong may be recognised as a business hotel – and ticks all the boxes for its corporate inclusions – but its sleek accommodation, gourmet dining and added facilities make it a polished venue for an urban staycation.
