Barr, who has been the Fair Director since 2019, leverages his extensive background in contemporary Asian art to spotlight local artists and international galleries. Set for March 28-31, this edition promises a curated selection of artists to watch, reinforcing the fair's role in the global art community.

Event timeline: 28th March - 31st March 2024

The 2024 Fair will feature many of Asia’s most innovative galleries along with distinguished artists from around the world. This year’s artist list contains the strongest ever representation of Mainland Chinese artists with a comprehensive inclusion of artists across the Asia-Pacific region.

Presented at Art Central 2024: Eojin Lee, Are you Okay Vol.2 (detail), 2023, mirror, thread, found objects and metal, 80 x 100 x 40 cm. Courtesy of the artist and Project K, Seoul.

South Korean artist Eojin Lee, presented by Project K of Seoul. She witnessed her grandmother practise shamanism in service to neighbours in the community as a child. Taking inspiration from this memory, Lee uses her practice to explore the power of healing the soul through art. Her work, not only striking, but the symbolic installation is also tinged with mysticism and adorned with contemporary talismans.

Presented at Art Central 2024: Jarupatcha Achavasmit, Colony, 2023, canvas, PET yarn, copper powder, size variable. Courtesy of the artist and Warin Lab Contemporary.

Thai artist Jarupatcha Achavasmit, presented by Warin Lab Contemporary (Bangkok), engages environmental conservation and her background in textile and design to produce radiant alchemic sculptural works. Her interest in textile innovation as an artist can be seen through the re-working of a gigantic photographic canvas left behind after an exhibition by Thai artist Sakarin Krue-On.

Presented at Art Central 2024: Ho Sin Tung, Shadow Boxing, 2024, studio images. Courtesy of the artist.

Celebrated Hong Kong artist Ho Sin Tung will be presenting Shadow Boxing (2024) that originates conceptually in her passion for martial arts. The artist currently operates a gym-cultural space called Good Night which serves as a platform for interdisciplinary practice, leveraging the power of sports to train and empower practitioners as stronger individuals and communities.
