INTERVIEW

Luxury travel is often measured in thread counts, Michelin stars and infinity pools, but for Rey Cheng, it's the people behind each property who leave the greatest impression. Better known to her audience as @findmyrey, the Hong Kong-based creator has spent years documenting some of the world's most remarkable hotels, building a loyal following through thoughtful storytelling, cinematic visuals and an eye for experiences that extend far beyond beautifully designed rooms.

We caught up with Rey to discuss the hotels that have shaped her travels, what defines truly memorable luxury, and the destinations that continue to inspire her next adventure.

THE HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Capella Bangkok

I left Capella Bangkok feeling so deeply and genuinely cared for. It wasn’t just about the beautiful rooms; I truly love the people there. They always seem to anticipate needs before I even notice them and go the extra mile to ensure every guest's comfort and happiness. I think it’s also a reflection of brilliant management. The leadership empowers their team with the autonomy to act on their instincts and move away from rigid scripts, allowing them to curate truly personalised experiences for their guests.

THE CITY ICON

Rosewood Hong Kong

Far beyond just a place to stay, Rosewood Hong Kong has curated a fully realised lifestyle ecosystem. Between the holistic wellness concept of Asaya and the energy of their exclusive private club, Carlyle & Co., the property functions as a vibrant local cultural hub – one that makes me feel truly connected to the modern pulse of Hong Kong.

THE JUNGLE ESCAPE

Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan

My experience began with a thrilling sense of adventure – arriving at the resort via a river raft. While FS Bali offers a highly exclusive cultural experience, what moved me most were the heartfelt interactions with the team. I could feel a true, genuine emotional connection during every moment of my stay.

THE HISTORIC HIDEAWAY

Mandarin Oriental, Qianmen

Staying here made me feel like I was living a piece of history. Waking up inside an old Beijing hutong was such an immersive, grounding experience that felt incredibly private. I’m still dreaming about the meals I had there – the refined Chinese cuisine at Yan Garden by Chef Fei was simply unforgettable.

THE SAFARI

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

I have never felt so close to wild nature while feeling so completely pampered. Swimming in the infinity pool while watching elephants drink just steps away. They excel in curating some "once-in-a-lifetime" moments like the Walking Safari and Bush Dinner, which went far beyond a standard safari trip.

THE ISLAND ESCAPE

This stay gave me the rarest feeling of a true, absolute escape. The remoteness of the island, combined with its genuine commitment to the environment, left me feeling completely grounded and at peace. I’ll never forget the feeling of standing in that hilltop infinity pool, looking out at the dramatic limestone karsts – it literally took my breath away.
